Ermelyn was only in the 3rd grade when she joined Silid Aralan. Like any other kid, she preferred playing outdoors than studying. At first, she was hesitant about joining Silid, since she already spent the whole day at school and felt that she was being forced to do the same thing again in the afternoon. But because her facilitators had a unique teaching style that catered to fun-loving kids like herself, she started to enjoy learning and eventually brought up her grade to 80s and 90s after just one quarter. She’s now spending her 3rd year at Polytechnic University of the Philippines, taking up Civil Engineering.
